Amazon may soon allow users to pay in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin 

Amazon is ready to roll out in the crypto sphere. It may allow its users to pay in crypto coins like Bitcoin as the colossal e-commerce platform is hiring a digital currency and a blockchain product lead for its payments team. 

According to a fresh and latest job listing, Amazon’s Fund Acceptance and Expertise team is looking for a skilled product leader to develop Amazon’s digital currency, Blockchain strategy and a Product Roadmap.

The product lead thus hired will work firmly with teams across Amazon including Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a roadmap for satisfactory customer experience. He will be responsible for building a launch strategy keeping in mind the technical approach, the scope of e-commerce in the crypto sphere and the potential of the company. 

“You will leverage your domain expertise in Blockchain, Distributed ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership in buy-in and investment for new capabilities” The company posted. 

No e-business accepts crypto as a payment yet, including Amazon. But Amazon making an effort to “explore” cryptocurrencies could be a boost to the mission of global acceptance of crypto. An insider said in describing Amazon’s intent to enter the crypto payments arena that, “It begins with Bitcoin.” 

The company further said, “The new digital currency and Blockchain product lead would need to operate with a high level of autonomy and operate analytically, working backwards from data and consumer insights to build new and innovative solutions to unsolved problems.” 

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud arm of Amazon currently offers a managed blockchain service. A company spokesperson informed that the idea behind accepting Crypto as a payment was inspired by the innovation happening in the cryptocurrency sphere and are exploring what this could look like on Amazon. 

The Tech giant Apple hinted on a similar recruitment of a business manager in May to work in or with alternative payment providers such as Cryptocurrency. Tesla and Twitter have been bullish on crypto for a long time. The Twitter CEO also hinted at acceptance of crypto as a payment method for twitter in a recent virtual conference.

This is a big boost for the crypto economy and serves right to its purpose of being the alternative currency.
